ABOUT BOARDING

The concept of providing specialist boarding for Basenjis arose several years ago from our then 20 years experience with the breed and our recognition that other Basenji owners may feel uneasy at leaving their Basenjis with kennels not familiar with the special needs of the breed. We aim to provide the highest quality care for your Basenji.

The kennels are located on our 48 acre property at Neergabby. Your Basenji (our guest) will be just one hour north of Perth in an environment that enjoys sunshine and the extra comfort of central heating on the cooler days and nights.

The design of the kennels allows each guest to have constant access to a personal paved exercise run and shady concreted verandah. Adjoining the runs is an exercise yard some 50 metres x 35 metres, complete with water supply, sand pile and a trench. Additional wire has been laid around the yard perimeter to prevent escape attempts by digging or climbing.

The individual indoor living areas are of sealed brick and concrete construction with drainage points and insulation. Each guest is provided with a trampoline bed which allows comfort and improved air circulation. It also prevents formation of callouses and arthritis from sleeping on a hard floor. Each individual combination of kennel, verandah and exercise run is exclusively occupied by each guest or family of guests for the duration of their stay.

Does champagne come with this spa?

Our guests receive the highest possible level of individual attention and supervision. All boarding fees are inclusive of meals, which are from the same home-cooked meals we prepare for our own Basenjis. No commercially-made dog food is used.....even the biscuits are home-made. The main meal is cooked daily and served hot each morning. The biscuits are made each week and served every evening. All ingredients are those sold for human consumption. Our recipes are low in fat (this is important with Basenjis), having been developed from our own experience and from information drawn from the worldwide Basenji community concerning the nutrition and health-care of Basenjis to achieve longevity with good health. Grooming services are included in the weekly rates and carried-out provided no stress is caused to our guest.
